Patience – An effective tool for success

Posted in Uncategorized by K P Ramachandran on January 24, 2017

I used to advise everybody the need for inculcating patience as the most essential virtue in us for peaceful life. After advising others I myself lost my temper the other day while talking to my longtime associate. It was unfortunate that I was not able keep my cool in difficult situations, like I used to do comfortably in my heydays.

I know very well that when you are old your capability comes down and you become less effective. At this point you have to be more patient to have tranquility and peace. Patience will only save you from mental agony when you are aged and isolated. When you are retired from active work your  advices will not be heard by others. Hence keeping quiet and patient will only save you from stress and disturbances.   In fact, all through my career spanning 47 years I could keep calm and unperturbed in any difficult situations. This has helped me to win over many of my seniors and subordinates.

Remember that  Patience is the ability to not be troubled by life’s changes , delays, or other undesirables. It is the ability  to maintain stillness in the midst of disappointment. A powerful benefit in practicing patience is that you cultivate the peace of mind to guide yourself out of these moments. See these moments of self reflection as opportunities to strengthen yourself in self control and grace. Also remember that one of the weapons used by Gandhiji in the war of India’s independence was patience.
