Compassion

All religions proclaim that a portion of our income should be utilized for others welfare. Pure love is a willingness to give without a thought of receiving any thing in return. Here I recollect the story told by Tagore. A beggar returned home one day without any thing. In his sleep, he saw the King of Kings coming to him on a golden chariot. He was so happy and thought that all his bad days are over. But, to his dismay he saw that the King,  instead of giving him any thing, was stretching his hands for alms. Thinking of his misfortune he gave one grain from his bag to the King. The next day morning while emptying the bag for the day’s begging he saw that one grain was of gold. He wept for his unwillingness to give more. Winston Churchill told once that ” we make a living by what we get ; we make a life by what we give. ”
